Cinema X, Shangri-la Plaza
After seeing Public Enemies, I now know why some people hate it. It felt too indie although we all know it isn’t. The use of digital films created a nauseating cinematography and sometimes, just sometimes, the audio was awful. Heck, we had to watch the entire film with 2 vertical red lines on-screen.
But I love it.
This is because using digital film may not be really Oscar-worthy, but it gave me the “taste” of how it felt like to be really at that time and age. Most period films are just so cinematic that you often feel detached. This one, at least for my case, made my eyes glued to the screen.
Anyway, this film is not for everyone. But then again, Johnny Depp and ganster films are not for everyone.
