I Couldn’t Believe It

May 23, 2006

It's either this book is so good that I just forgot to write about it or I am just so stressed at work that I just forgot to write about it. Anyway,this controversial book by Al Ries entitled The Fall of Advertising and the Rise of PR is very informative and critical in understanding how brands are formed THESE days. Moreover, as a person with lotsa friends in the advertising industry, it is quite unnerving for some newbie like me to claim that what they (e.g. Art Directors) know are so-yesterday.

In the words of William Butler Yeats in "He wishes for the cloths of heaven" (as featured in the coolest action flick ever: Equilibrium):

[Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
]
Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.
